Louisiana Business Filings

After you have an account and have provided the initial information, you can create a business license checklist. This is a document of instructions on what papers you have to provide.

Name Reservation

Then, you should file a name reservation to make sure that the name you chose is available and will be reserved for you. This can reserve a title for up to 120 days before you complete the corporation registration. 

If the title is already taken, the filing is going to be rejected, and you will have to pick another name. 

Payments  

This service costs $25, and if you wish to expedite the review of your request, you ought to pay an additional $50. There is also a state fee of $5.

Keep in mind that the license itself also costs money. You have to pay $100 to register an LLC and $75 to register a corporation.

Annual Report Filing 

When you already have a corporation of any sort, it is important that you file annual reports with the Secretary of State. GeauxBIZ will send a notice to your account a month before your report is due. 

If you follow the link in the notice, it will take you to your next step. Alternatively, you can click on the “file annual report” button on the left-side menu of the dashboard of your geauxBIZ account and start the process. 

After you answer the questions and fill in the necessary information, you submit the report and pay $30 for the filing and an additional $5 fee. After this, the report should be sent for review.

If there is an issue with the filing, you will be notified, if not, you will receive a confirmation that the process is complete.

Ordering Certificates

If you wish to receive a certificate or copies of documents, you have to send a written request to the Secretary’s office or request it online through the Commercial Database.

The request sent through the mail should have proof of payment with them. The payment for each requested document is $15, whereas the fee for more documents requested by one entity is $25. If you are ordering a certificate, the fee is $20.

If you wish to find any information on a corporation or check whether it is registered or not, you can do it through the Louisiana Business Filings page. Here you may write the title of the corporation you are interested in and get the relevant results. 

It is possible to search through any of the following details:  

  • Entity Title
  • Trade Registration Number
  • Charter Number
  • Officer Name
  • Title Reservation Number
  • Agent Name

After you perform the search using any of the aforementioned details, you should get the desired results. To receive information, you need to click on “details”. This takes you to a new page, where you may find all the publicly available information on a particular business, including its address, status, agents, officers, and filing history.
